Monrovia Historical Tour

Embark on an historical journey through the capital of Africa's independent Republic, Monrovia. Formally known as Christopolis, "the city of Christ".

Ducor Hill

Nestled on Monrovia's highest peak, Ducor Hill is Liberia's first defense facility, the country's first lighthouse, and a monument honoring our first president, Joseph Jenkins Roberts.

Ducor Hill also boasts the remnants of Liberia's and Africa's first five-star hotel, The Ducor Intercontinental Hotel. Breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the St. Paul River serve as the backdrop.

Cenntennial Pavilion

Monrovia's historical gems also include the burial site of the country's most distinguished president, William V.S. Tubman, located on the grounds of the Centennial Pavilion.

Providence Baptist Church

On July 26, 1847, Liberia's Declaration of Independence was signed at the Providence Baptist Church, Liberia's oldest church. Built in the early 1800's by the Settlers, this building is still used for services and is in remarkably good condition.
