Treat yourself to a magical experience in venturing to Liberia’s largest protected rainforest and premier national park.
Sapo National Park was named after the local Sapo (or Sao) Tribe and is 505 square miles of lowland rainforest, swampy areas, dry-land and riparian forests.
Sapo is the largest rainforest in West Africa, and home to many endangered and rare animal species. As a protected forest and one of the most intact forest ecosystems in Liberia, the park is indigenous to the pygmy hippopotamus, the West African Chimpanzee, the Zebra Duiker as well as more than 50 other mammal species.
In 2009, a botanical survey of Sapo National Park concluded in finding six new plant species which increases the variety of beautiful flora our country has to offer.
